Nowadays, a lot of people are into sports, what with all the hype about exercising on a daily basis and how it can help you look better and so on and so forth. Most of the time, people play one of the more common sports on a regular basis, such as basketball, volleyball, tennis, badminton and others because these are the more endorsed types of sports and people often think that they are the ones that yield the most results or burn the most calories. However, most people often regret that one kind of game also helps burn calories, tone the muscles and isn’t as stressful and as tiring as the other sports stated above. That sport in which I’m talking of is bowling.
I know, it’s kind of weird. Most people often think of bowling either as a recreational sport or a professional sport, but never, ever, a fat-burning type of sport. After all, how many models, actors and famous figures do endorse bowling, apart from those that actually play the game themselves professionally? None.
Still, as recreational and as relaxing of a sport it may seem, bowling provides a wide array of health benefits that you probably would have never thought of.
First, bowling can be considered a cardiovascular exercise or to be exact, an anaerobic exercise. When you walk towards the lane, a bowling ball hanging from one of your hands, you’re actually burning calories. In fact, you burn more calories than usual and that can be attributed to the fact that you’re carrying something slightly heavy in one of your arms.
With that said, you can clearly see that bowling can help you burn those unwanted pounds away without even you knowing it. Also, one often overlooked benefit of bowling is that it promotes muscle contraction and is one of the better muscle exercises out there. Whenever you swing your arms, aiming to hit the pins, you promote contraction between your muscles, you also flex and stretch them, making it a good exercise for your ligaments, tendons, joints and muscles both in your arms. Also, since you aim to balance yourself when playing bowling, you also use your core muscles well, such as your abdominals, and for those health studs out there, that itself is a good sign.
The creator of this bowling post has many different interests and blogs about several of them. Some of his other blogs discuss how to save on cars, such as impounded cars for sale or other vehicles that can be picked up for discounted prices at online sites or in person at live auto auctions.
